About

Dr. ParkFellowship Trained Spine Surgeon

Dr. Don Young Park is a Board Certified, fellowship trained Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon with an expertise in endoscopic spine surgery, minimally invasive spine surgery and outpatient spine surgery. He uses these advanced, ultra-minimally invasive techniques to treat most spinal conditions for less pain and faster recovery.

  • Endoscopic Spine Surgery

This technique involves the use of an endoscope that has a high-powered light and high-definition camera at the end of the endoscope, similar to an arthoscope in the knee and shoulder. The endoscope is inserted through a very small incision, allowing Dr. Park to visualize spinal anatomy with a much greater magnification and detail compared to high powered operating microscopes. This enhanced visualization leads to improved safety with spine surgery and allows Dr. Park to treat most spinal conditions without the need for larger incisions.

  • Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MISS)

This encompasses various surgical approaches throughout the spine with the common goal of reducing tissue damage, thereby reducing pain and enhancing recovery. MISS techniques include endoscopic procedures but can involve other methods, such as tubular and expandable retractors, and specialized instruments that allow for smaller incisions. Dr. Park is widely recognized as a leader in MISS surgery in the United States.
